Architectural Design Strategy

It is seen that ‘Nine square strategy’ is followed in the “Vastu purush mandal” concept of ancient Indian Vastushastra. Same strategy is the basis of ‘Navgriha Mandal’. Architect Shrikant Chougule has adopted the same basic principle. Four sides of the “Nine square mandal” are representing East, West, South and North whereas four corners represent South-east, South-west, North-west and North-east directions. Earthen base below and open space above, showing Natural delicacy. These are the ten directions forming the Mandal. (Refer the diagram). Arrangement of various sections is made to utilise all the natural elements, such as daylight, wind etc. taking into consideration natural set-up of the site. Staircase is located in the central portion to connect the rooms/passages and for going upstairs and downstairs. This forms the holistic space connecting all the storeys and residential areas. Besides, through this central space air, daylight, tender sun-beam entering in the morning and evening, pleasant South-west and North-east breeze, view of sky all around is taken inside the building. As a result, we could enjoy the pleasures play of light and shadow. This is the vividness of the architectural design!
